Former Buckeye Hits Three Home Runs In Single MLB Game

Former Ohio State baseball player and current Seattle Mariner Dominic Canzone had quite the performance in his team’s 12-5 win over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night.
In the win, Canzone went 5-for-5 with 3 home runs and 4 RBIs. Canzone became the second player in Mariners history to have a 5-hit, 3 home run game. Canzone, an outfielder for the Mariners, played for the Buckeyes from 2017-19 and broke a program record previously held by Nick Swisher with a 59-game on-base streak.
Canzone was an eighth round pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2019 MLB Draft and made his debut with the big-league club in 2023. Canzone, who was traded to the Mariners midway through 2023, is having a career-best season this year. In 72 games with the Mariners, Canzone has a slash line of .304/.363/.491.
With Canzone’s help, the Mariners have won 10 straight games and are in first place in the American League West division.
