Get to know Pickerington (Ohio) North three-star running back Sam Williams-Dixon, who signed with Ohio State on Wednesday.
Height, Weight: 5-11, 203
247Sports Composite Rankings: Williams-Dixon is tabbed as the nation’s 594th-best overall prospect, 41st-best athlete and No. 21 player in Ohio.
Commitment Date: Williams-Dixon committed to Ohio State on April 15.
Other Offers: Akron, Boston College, Cincinnati, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan State, Penn State, Rutgers, Tennessee, West Virginia, Wisconsin.
How He Did In High School: Williams-Dixon totaled 71 carries for 475 yards and four touchdowns in his lone season at Pickerington North this season, helping lead the Panthers to an appearance in the OHSAA Division I Region 3 state semifinals. He spent his first three seasons at West Holmes High School in Millersburg, Ohio, where he totaled an impressive 41 touchdowns as a junior.
Where He Fits For 2024: Williams-Dixon enters an Ohio State running back room that appears to be in a state of flux this offseason, with Evan Pryor, Chip Trayanum and Miyan Williams all leaving the program . Standout junior TreVeyon Henderson’s Ohio State future is also in question, which can open an even bigger door for the Pickerington North product as he tries to earn any action on the field in 2024.
The Buckeyes are likely retaining Dallan Hayden next year — who will be the presumed No. 1 in Tony Alford’s running back room if Henderson leaves — and they are also bringing in San Antonio (Texas) Veterans Memorial four-star running back James Peoples (5-10, 192) to compete alongside Williams-Dixon. With Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) four-star running back Jordan Lyle flipping to Miami on Monday, the opportunity is there for Williams-Dixon to make some noise for the Buckeyes at tailback in 2024.
