Early Signing Period: Four-Star Offensive Tackle Sam Greer Signs With Ohio State

Get to know Akron Hoban four-star offensive tackle Sam Greer, who signed with Ohio State on Wednesday.
Height, Weight: 6-8, 315
247Sports Composite Ranking: Greer is the No. 51 prospect in the country, the No. 6 offensive tackle and the No. 3 player in Ohio.
Commitment Date: Greer committed to Ohio State on March 25, 2025.
Other Offers: Auburn, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Northwestern, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin.
How He Did In High School: Greer was a state runner up with Akron Hoban in 2023, but wasn’t able to make it as far in either of his final two high school seasons. He helped anchor a strong offensive line on the way to a 10-2 senior season that ended with a 35-7 loss to Walsh Jesuit on Nov. 21 in the OHSAA playoffs.
Where He Fits For 2026: Whether Austin Siereveld remains at Ohio State is unknown at this point, but it would not be a surprise if the left tackle is back in Columbus next season. Phillip Daniels will be back and is likely to start at right tackle again. But even if both weren’t back next year for whatever reason, it would still be an extremely difficult task for a true freshman to make an impact at a tackle position for the Buckeyes. He will almost certainly still be behind Ian Moore and Carter Lowe on the depth chart as well.
