EA Sports Bringing Back College Basketball Video Game

EA Sports announced in a tweet on Monday that it is bringing back its college basketball video game, which last hit the stores in 2009. EA did not announce in their tweet when they would be bringing back the game, but multiple reports say that the game will release its first game in 2028.

From 1998-2008, EA Sports’ college basketball game was called “NCAA March Madness,” but that then transformed into NCAA Basketball 09 (released in 2008) and their last game, NCAA Basketball 10 (released in 2009). According to Matt Brown of Extra Points, the working title for the upcoming game was “EA Sports College Basketball,” with the NCAA participating as a licensing partner.

Eleven Warriors also said that a source told them that EA Sports hopes to have all Division I men’s and women’s basketball teams in the game.

News of the EA college basketball game relaunch comes just one summer after the company relaunched its NCAA football video game, EA Sports College Football 25, which returned after an 11-year hiatus and became the first college sports video game to compensate players for the use of their name, image and likeness in the game. It’s expected that the college basketball video game will also allow players to opt-in and profit off their likeness in the game.
