Day Says He’s Not In Favor Of Proposed 10-Day January Transfer Portal Window

The singular 10-day January transfer portal window proposed by the FBS oversight committee last week does not have the support of Ryan Day.
The Buckeye head coach said as much during his press conference on Tuesday at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Day’s main grievance with the proposed window is that it would run from Jan. 2-11, during the College Football Playoff.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea at all,” Day said. “The conversations we had with Big Ten coaches, I think the majority of them agree. I don’t quite understand how teams that are playing in the playoffs are expected to make the decisions and sign their upcoming players while they’re getting ready to play for games. It doesn’t make any sense to me.”
As it stands, there are two transfer portal windows, including one that runs from Dec. 9-28 and one that runs from April 16-25.
Before changes to the window are made, the NCAA’s Administrative Committee will need to formally adopt the change, with a vote expected to take place on Oct. 1.
