BSB TV: What Did Ohio State Take From Michigan State? Haskins, White, Cooper, Jones Dissect Buckeyes Over Spartans

With a boost of confidence from a 20-point win down the stretch of Big Ten play, Ohio State takes its 26-6 triumph at Michigan State over the weekend and into week 12 as the No. 10 Buckeyes (9-1, 6-1) head to Maryland.

Before we turn the page to Saturday’s matchup with the Terrapins (5-5, 3-4), BSB wraps up its coverage of OSU’s performance against the No. 18 Spartans (6-4, 4-3) with closing thoughts from the players.

Sophomore quarterback Dwayne Haskins, sophomore safety Brendon White, junior defensive end Jonathon Cooper and junior defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones share those sentiments in the videos below.

Dwayne Haskins

On getting the win after the recent weeks…

“It was electric … getting a win like that meant a lot for a lot of people. And we didn’t play our best ball, but the good thing is we have another game to play, and we got a lot of potential and we can keep getting better. But it’s a tough team, people always play us extremely hard. They’re the No. 1 rush defense in the country, 16 points per game, and they gave us a tough time. But it wasn’t supposed to be easy.”

Brendon White, Jonathon Cooper

White on how he approached his first career start…

“Just trying to stay confident in myself. Being confident with the calls, giving the linebackers the calls, watching more film. I was watching more film this week, and I think the biggest thing was being more confident out there and getting the right calls and getting more confident in those calls.”

Cooper on the defense having a solid performance…

“I just feel like it just shows that our defense, we have confidence in that everything we’ve been doing since the beginning of the season it’s going to work. We’ve been practicing hard, we’ve been going hard, and even though with everybody kind of like telling us to do this or do that, we just stuck with the plan, and it pays off as you can see. And we went out there and we actually showed that we are the defense, we are Ohio State, we are the Bullets.”

Dre’Mont Jones

On where the defense is and where it needs to be…

“Hard question. I think we’re still in the same spot. We played a great game regardless of what happened in the past couple games, I think our defense has still been at the same level we’ve always been. I think it’s always those one or two things that we had to get over like guys not tackling well or us not being smart when the play is called. So I feel like today was our complete game of just listening to the calls and making those important tackles.”
