Ohio State To Face Washington In Opening Round Of 2026 Big Ten Baseball Tournament

Following a 13-37 season that saw Ohio State finish dead-last in the conference, the Buckeyes have made their way back to Omaha and the Big Ten tournament for the first time since 2024.

Ohio State culminated its regular season with a sweep of Michigan (32-22, 17-13 Big Ten) in Ann Arbor for the first time since 1994. The Buckeyes ended the regular season with a 29-23 overall record and an 18-12 finish in conference action. Ohio State began the week seventh in conference, but jumped the Wolverines for sixth after a season sweep.

Purdue also finished the season with an 18-12 record in Big Ten play, but earned the tiebreaker over Ohio State as the fifth seed due to a sweep over the Buckeyes in mid-April.

No. 6-seed Ohio State will now set its sights on No. 11-seed Washington in the first round of the tournament. The Huskies defeated the Buckeyes in two of three games in Ohio State’s tightest series of the year, with each contest decided by just one run and two of the three going to extra innings.

If Ohio State advances, the Buckeyes will look at potential rematches with No. 7 Michigan or No. 10 Rutgers.

Ohio State will take on Washington at Charles Schwab Field Omaha on Tuesday at 10 p.m. E.T. on the Big Ten Network.
