Former California F Justice Sueing Transfers To Ohio State

Former California forward Justice Sueing will transfer to Ohio State, he announced Friday on his Twitter account.

The 6-7, 215-pounder officially visited the Buckeyes the weekend of May 3-5. He also considered San Diego State among his options.

Originally a three-star recruit from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei in the 2017 class, Sueing signed with the in-state Golden Bears as the 247Sports composite’s No. 171 overall prospect, No. 45 power forward and No. 19 player in California.

He started in all but one game for Cal as a freshman on the 2017-18 season, averaging 13.8 points and 5.4 rebounds across 32 contests.

His sophomore campaign featured more of the same with 14.7 points and 6.0 rebounds averaged across 29 games (28 starts) in 2018-19.

Over the course of two years in Berkeley, Calif., Sueing shot 43.4 percent (200 of 668) from the field and 30.3 percent (74 for 244) behind the three-point line.

He has to sit out the 2019-20 season, per NCAA transfer rules, leaving the 2020-21 and 2021-22 campaigns as his final two years of eligibility in Columbus.

Sueing should step into the role that will be vacated by senior forward Andre Wesson (6-6, 220), who graduates in April 2019.

Head coach Chris Holtmann has now added a sit-one transfer for the second straight year, doing the same with Florida State’s CJ Walker (6-1, 195) in April 2018.

Beyond the addition of Sueing, OSU’s has four incoming freshmen signed to its 2019 recruiting class — Bettendorf, Iowa, four-star point guard DJ Carton (6-1, 190), Belleville (Ill.) West four-star power forward EJ Liddell, Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy four-star small forward Alonzo Gaffney (6-9, 190) and Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep three-star center Ibrahima Diallo (7-0, 200) — which finished 12th nationally in the 247Sports composite team rankings.
