2020 Arizona RB Darvon Hubbard Announces Ohio State Commitment

Darvon Hubbard is coming home.

The four-star running back announced his commitment to Ohio State late Wednesday night, one day removed from the one-month mark of his June 26 Buckeyes offer.

The 6-0, 200-pound Hubbard camped in Columbus twice last month. He spent June 16 at OSU’s third one-day camp of the summer, returning June 22 for Friday Night Lights and receiving the offer four days later.

At the time, Hubbard pointed to his long-standing relationship with running backs coach Tony Alford among the reasons why he felt so comfortable with Ohio State.

“He knows how I operate,” Hubbard said of Alford. “He knows how to talk to me as a person, so I’m able to understand him more than maybe some of my coaches.

“He’s known me since I was in the eighth grade, so we have a really good connection. I know how he talks, so I know how to understand him. We just have a real special connection.”

A native of Ohio, Hubbard played his freshman season in 2016 at Akron Buchtel before he moved to Arizona. As a sophomore in 2017 at Chaparral, Hubbard teamed up with Jack Miller. The four-star quarterback, also from Chaparral, committed to the Buckeyes at the beginning of the month.

The 247Sports composite rates Hubbard as the No. 232 overall player, No. 23 running back and No. 6 prospect in Arizona for the next cycle.

He joins Marietta, Ga., four-star offensive tackle Jake WrayBradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star defensive back Lejond Cavazos, Cincinnati St. Xavier five-star offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr., Miller and Montvale (N.J.) St. Joseph Regional four-star offensive guard Luke Wypler as the sixth pledge in OSU’s star-studded 2020 recruiting class.
