Ohio State’s momentum continued to roll on the recruiting trail Friday afternoon when Jordan Battle announced his commitment to the Buckeyes.

The four-star safety from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas brings OSU’s 2019 recruiting class to 13 members with room for more to come soon.

Ohio State picked up early priority pledges in the past two days from Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star defensive back Lejond Cavazos and Cincinnati St. Xavier five-star offensive tackle Paris Johnson, tripling the 2020 recruiting class to three members after Marietta, Ga., four-star offensive tackle Jake Wray committed two months ago.

However, Battle brings the Buckeyes a burst to their 2019 recruiting class, which had last received a commitment Sunday when OSU flipped four-star quarterback Dwan Mathis from Michigan State.

The 6-1, 187-pound Battle officially visited Ohio State last weekend with a handful of other top targets in the current cycle. Rated by the 247Sports composite as the No. 171 overall player, No. 12 safety and No. 24 prospect in Florida, Battle is a big get for the Buckeyes.

He joins Wayne (N.J.) DePaul Catholic four-star athlete Ronnie Hickman, Wayne (Ind.) Fort Wayne three-star athlete Craig Young and Potomac (Md.) Bullis three-star safety Bryson Shaw among OSU’s projected defensive backs in the 2019 recruiting class.
